Monetize live and on-demand streams with ad standards supported by Video.js and Clappr. Available on Professional and Enterprise plans.
What this page covers
Our RTMP servers support VAST (Video Ad Serving Template) and VMAP (Video Multiple Ad Playlist). These standards allow you to insert pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll ads inside HTML5 players. This guide explains what they are, how to get your ad tags, and how we help you finish the setup.
What is VAST?
VAST is an XML tag that connects your video player to an ad server. With VAST you can run:
- Pre-roll ads before content starts
- Post-roll ads after content ends
- Targeted ads from ad networks such as Google Ad Manager
What is VMAP?
VMAP allows you to define a full ad map for your stream or video. With VMAP you can:
- Insert mid-roll ads at fixed times
- Combine pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll ads in one playlist
- Improve monetization on long streams and scheduled TV-style channels
Requirements
- Feature is available on Professional and Enterprise plans only. See pricing.
- You must have a valid VAST or VMAP ad tag from an ad provider.
- Supported players: Video.js and Clappr.
- Ad delivery counts toward your monthly bandwidth usage.
Where do I get a VAST or VMAP tag?
To use ad integration you need to register with an ad network or provider that supports VAST/VMAP. Some options include:
After registration, you will receive an ad tag URL (XML) which your player uses to load ads.
How to complete the setup
- Sign up with one of the providers above and obtain your VAST/VMAP tag URL.
- Choose your player: Video.js or Clappr.
- Open a support ticket with us and include your ad tag URL.
